Cook? Moi?

I've just been accused by my dear friend Z of being a cook, which I suppose I am, though I rarely do it properly these days, unless motivated.  But I remembered that I have over the years kept a book of things I, or others around me, have made up and thought good enough to preserve.  (The recipes I mean, not the dishes.)
So here's the first in an occasional series.  I will label them 'cooking', and you will get the original text: there's no way I'm re-typing that lot.

  1. That sounds good apart from the rubber gloves.

  2. That sounds yummy.

Having been a kept woman for almost 4 months (a tad longer than I had planned if I'm honest), I have had ample time to cook a lot of 'proper' meals. We didn't eat this well all the time when I had a full-time job. Unfortunately, about 2 months ago I discovered that my high-ish cholesterol level had got even higher, so I have to think a lot more about what I am cooking (good-bye hard cheeses and butter; sob!). Fortunately, the Hairy Biker's latest cook-book, "The Hairy Dieters" came into my life at just the right time and I have discovered lots of really yummy low-fat meals. I have also come across a couple of cake recipes that use oil rather than butter (same calories but less saturated fat) but I haven't made any of them yet.

  4. I can't cook... but I could write your recipes out in calligraphy, and then they could be laminated...

  5. Mig - never tried Marigold Swiss vegetable bouillon powder? Don't bother diluting, I can eat it by the spoonful. No MSG.
Liz - I'd better not offer you my leek and cheese flan, then; about 40% butter, as Z will testify.
Frances - it's the only way I know of making broccoli palatable. Or spellable, even.
Z - blog party?? Am I having a blog party? When? When??
Laminated calligraphy? Scarlet, I am deeply honoured, but I couldn't possibly. Not even St Delia does that. Does she?
